Age 1-3: Bubs & Tots/ Toddler Classes

Mandarin Stars offers classes for babies and toddlers ages 1 to 3 in a playgroup setting for:

• Bubs and Tots classes (18 months – 2 years)
• Toddler classes (2 – 3 years)

Research shows that children have an amazing aptitude to learn languages from an early age. Furthermore, according to Dr. Mandy Scott from the ANU, learning two languages before the age of five produces the strongest results.

At Mandarin Stars we agree with this research and are constantly amazed at how quickly children under 5 are able to memorise, repeat and naturally use basic Mandarin vocabulary. Many use perfect pronunciation – even building basic sentences!

Our Mandarin Stars playgroups for children age 1-5 years are for native and non-native learners. We aim to introduce Mandarin to children in a 100% immersion listening and speaking environment. Our goal is to develop an ear for the language, pronunciation and natural listening skill for the 4 basic tones in Mandarin.

We choose a range of activities to deliver our themes, including sensory-based play, mini science experiments that help to develop your child’s science inquiry skills, cooking, short stories, rhymes, singing, dancing, puppet shows, dramatic play, arts and crafts. All of the activities we plan and deliver for our classes reinforce the theme and vocabulary taught for the week. Our dedicated workbook activities also contain 30+ learning activities that not only develop your child’s Mandarin Chinese language skills, they are also specifically designed to develop cognitive skills and early years based literacy and numeracy concepts including pattern awareness, measurement and spatial knowledge.
